If so, then you will be glad to know that in this article you will discover the different types of options that you have to treat acute myeloid leukemia and more importantly some of the supportive therapy options that you and your loved ones can utilize during this fight against this devastating cancer.

Acute Myeloid Leukemia Treatments and Supportive Therapies!

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a type of cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells that is characterized by a rapid growth of abnormal white blood cells that build up in the bone marrow and interfere with the normal production of blood cells.

Symptoms of Acute Myeloid Leukemia:

FatigueShortness of BreathEasily bleeds or bruiseHigher incidence of infection

Since AML is as an acute leukemia, it progresses rapidly and can be fatal within weeks or months if left untreated.

Treatment options of cute Myeloid Leukemia:

The most common treatment of AML is usually chemotherapy that is divided into two separate phases of induction and consolidation therapy. The intent of the induction phase is to reduce the amount of leukemic cells to an undetectable level. Once that is achieved the intention of the consolidation phase is to eliminate all of the disease.

Supportive Therapy Options:

Fighting the battle against any type of cancer can be a very daunting and at times almost overwhelming process. That's why your healthcare provider may provide you with a list of AML support groups that will allow you to communicate and share with other AML sufferers to help easy some of the suffering by sharing.

Another option is to begin practicing Yoga Nidra which is a guided meditation technique that will allow you to expand your capacity to be in this moment now in an empowering way that will decrease the amount of unneeded suffering that you may be struggling with as well as give you moments of relaxation in the mist of so much pain and suffering.

New Immune Therapy Purges Leukemia - System Works Where Chemotherapy Fails

Leukemia has been driven into remission in two out of three patients with immune therapy. So reports oncologist Austin Porter at the University of Pennsylvania in The New England Journal of Medicine. Porter said, "What we couldn't do with chemotherapy, we were able to do in four weeks with immune therapy."

Leukemia is the destroyer of white blood cells. Low levels of electrolytes diminish the immune system and reduce the body's energy and ability to fight for life.

This immune therapy trial opens the door for new therapies for leukemia and potentially for millions who are suffering from other cancers.

The strategy of this ingenious trial was to enable the body's own immune system to eliminate the cancer cells. The T-cells identify foreign pathogens and prepares for battle. These "Killer Cells" then signal the macrophage to remove the dead cells.

The system used in this trial was to draw blood from the patients, isolate the T-cells, and infect them with a genetically engineered virus. The modified T-cells were then injected back into the patients.

The research team calculated that for every T-cell injected, a thousand cancer cells were killed. It is normal for the patients to develop flu-like symptom due to the quick removal of the dead cancer cells that are processed from the body by the liver and kidneys.

A newborn baby receives Smart Sugars in mother's breast milk and a superload in the colostrum. It is these sugars that supply the immune system for the child and effects him or her for life. These sugars construct the glycolipids and glycoproteins which develop the communication system, the actual operating system (OS) for the human body.

It is a recognized scientific fact that when the human immune system is modulated properly that cancer, HIV, other viruses and harmful bacteria are destroyed by the efficient killer cell team.

In the mid-nineties, I personally experienced similar flu-like symptoms when I ate high quantities of Smart Sugars. My next door neighbor was given two weeks to live because he had virtually no white blood cells. His immune system had failed. His family fed him Smart Sugars and he died in the predicted two weeks; however, the doctor conducted one final blood test and said apparently there was an error with the test because he was producing white blood cells again.

ALL roads to health and healing are via of your immune system. ALL roads to your immune system are traveled via glycolipids and glycoproteins. ALL glycolipids and glycoproteins require Smart Sugars.

Herbal Remedies For Leukemia - How Can They Help?

Leukemia is a blood disorder that affects a surprisingly large number of people. The death rate of this disease is alarming and it causes people to turn to other treatments that science can provide. Herbal remedies for leukemia has been given consideration as an alternative treatment.

What is leukemia?

Leukemia is another type of cancer that begins in the blood cells. For people suffering from leukemia, their bone marrows generate abnormal white blood cells. These are called the leukemia cells.

During the first stage of this disease, the leukemia cells may look like they are functioning normally. But after some time, they begin to out populate the normal white blood cells and also the red blood cells of our body. This is the reason why the blood cannot function correctly.

Cause of Leukemia

The exact cause of leukemia still remains a mystery. Experts cannot explain why this disease sprouts in random people. However, due to intensive studies, they have found some factors that may put you at risk of leukemia. Here are some of them:

1. Exposure to high level radiation

Those people who are regularly exposed to a high level of radiation have a high chance of developing leukemia.

2. Exposure to certain chemicals

Exposure to chemicals, such as Benzene can put you at a risk of developing leukemia. Another chemical that may cause considerable damage to your cells is formaldehyde.

3. Chemotherapy

This might seem crazy since chemotherapy is used to treat cancer patients. However, there are some studies conducted that people fighting from a different type of cancer can later develop leukemia because of their frequent chemotherapy sessions.

4. Down Syndrome

People with Down syndrome have a higher risk of developing leukemia because of their abnormal chromosomes.

Treatment

The first line of treatment that people with Leukemia would most likely utilize is chemotherapy. However, chemotherapy can also assault your immune system and can leave you defenseless against other viral infections and other complications.

Patients undergoing chemotherapy are all physically spent after every session. Chemotherapy also causes these patients to lose hair. This is why many have also turned to herbal remedies for leukemia.

These herbal remedies for leukemia have helped many a number of leukemia sufferers:

1. The nutrients found in garlic can protect our body from infections. Since chemotherapy can lower your immune system, Garlic can aid that problem.

2. You can also concoct an herbal tea out of stinging nettle, elder blossoms, brooklime herb and dandelion to help your body gain back its strength and normalize its primary functions.

It is also important for a leukemia sufferer to have a balanced diet and regular exercise to support their body in the fight against cancer cells.

Along with these, they can also take an herbal remedy that can help promote healthier cells. A product called Bio-Oxidate Defense can help a lot.

This product can support healthy cells in our body and can help the body fight the effects of bad cells. Bio-Oxidate Defense can also up your immune system so you will not be defenseless against other diseases.

This product is 100% safe to use because it uses natural herbal ingredients such as Green Tea, Rooibos and Grape seed extract which are a very helpful combination in supporting the body and help healthy cell growth.

When it comes to the battle against Leukemia, every help is needed. Herbal remedies for leukemia and a product like Bio-Oxidate Defense is just what you need to help you in this fight.

Acute Leukemia Symptoms And What To Look For

Acute leukemia is a form of cancer that affects the white blood cells. It can present in many forms such as Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), which is very common in children, especially 2-5 years of age; Acute Myelogenic Leukemia (AML), and Acute Non-Lymphatic Leukemia (ANLL). This article shares a brief overview of the symptoms to look for as well as the causes, diagnosis and treatment options associated with this disease.

Acute Leukemia

Symptoms - A man, woman or child with this condition may experience a constant tired feeling that can be accompanied with a low fever, anemia, pale skin, general ill feeling, easily bruised skin, and/or frequent nose bleeds or bleeding gums. Other possible symptoms include abdominal pain with an enlarged spleen, and infections with sores in the mouth.

Causes - The cause of this form of cancer is unknown, but risk of contracting the disease increases with a family history, Down Syndrome, or other congenital disorders, identical twins, or exposure to toxic chemicals.

Diagnosis - The first indication of a problem is typically an observation of the aforementioned symptoms. A physical exam with studies of the blood, bone marrow, or cerebral spinal fluid should follow to confirm the diagnosis. In some cases certain x-rays or CT scans may also be used to confirm the diagnosis.

Treatment - Proper treatment of acute leukemia may include blood or platelet transfusions, anticancer medication and radiation treatments. A bone marrow transplant may be necessary in some cases. A physician may also prescribe cortisone drugs and pain relievers (except aspirin) to help a patient deal with symptoms.

Acute leukemia is cancer of the white blood cells that can affect children and adults depending on the type of cancer. If treatment is successful and a patient goes into remission, there will be an ongoing need for check-ups to be certain it does not return.

Facing Two Very Scary Words - Leukemia Lymphoma

Leukemia, Lymphoma: these are two of the scariest words anyone could ever hear in a doctor's office. It doesn't matter if it is you, personally, mother, father, child, spouse, friend; the fear is just as bad if it is about someone that means something to you. First of all, you will want to know exactly what type of cancer it is. Leukemia and lymphoma are blood cancers. Since you have the diagnosis there are things that need to be taken care of immediately.

First of all, get a second opinion in an entirely different practice. You want to be completely sure before you start thinking about treatments. The next thing you should do is find a support group. There are programs at all hospitals that have cancer centers. Leukemia and lymphoma (Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin and myeloma) sufferers need professionals who are schooled in these types of cancer. These diseases affect everyone in the family of the person diagnosed. There are family support groups as well as peer groups.

Leukemia is cancer of the white blood cells. These are the part of the blood that fights infection. Leukemia is uncontrolled multiplication or growth of the white blood cells. There are several types of leukemia and, luckily, it is very treatable in most situations. Acute leukemia starts quickly and grows fast whereas chronic leukemia happens over a long period of time.

Lymphoma is cancer of the lymph glands and cells and includes overgrowth of lymphocytes.

Cause for either leukemia or lymphoma is not known. These are two of the three types of blood cancer; the other is multiple myeloma.

These types of cancer are difficult to diagnose early because their symptoms are non specific. Some of the symptoms are: easy bruising, night sweats, swollen lymph nodes (without pain), and fever without infection, unexplained bleeding, weight loss, bone and joint pain. These symptoms depend on the type of blood cancer involved. In multiple myeloma, there is often bone and joint pain as a first symptom because of destruction of the bone cells. Leukemia is suspected with chronic anemia, night sweats, recurring infections. When lymphoma is suspected it often depends on the size and location of the swollen lymph glands.

10% of all new cancers are from these three blood cancers. For children, leukemia is the most common type of cancer. People with leukemia are at risk for infections. There is treatment though chemotherapy and radiation, as well as bone marrow transplant in some cases.

What are the risk factors for development of leukemia or lymphoma? High exposure to radiation either through tests or during a person's job increases the likely hood of getting leukemia. Smoking increases the chances of getting leukemia. Certain illnesses like Down syndrome increase the chances. A person with a family history of leukemia has an increased chance of having it later in life.

Leukemia patients do not always have treatment. If the illness is dormant, cancer treatment may be put off until it surfaces. The physicians will treat the other symptoms of the illness while waiting. Some leukemia patients have chemotherapy; some are treated with radiation. There is also a target method of treatment that allows the illness to be blocked. This treatment is sometimes difficult for the patient to handle.

Chronic Adult Leukemia The Cause of Low Platelets

Are you a Leukemia patient suffering from low platelets? Are you also searching for non-toxic methods that will help increase your low platelets caused by a form of leukemia? Well there is hope that what I am about to share with you will be of great benefit to you. So keep reading and do not miss this.

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Chronic Myelocytic Leukemia are the most common forms of leukemia in adults. The lymphocytic type being the most common of the two. Both types are discussed briefly in this article.

Leukemia patients may develop low platelets for different reasons. First the disease attacks the bone marrow where platelets are produced. Second, the medications that treat the disease can cause suppression of platelet production.

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

CLL is a progressive form of leukemia. Most persons suffering from this type of leukemia do not present any form of symptoms whatsoever until the disease has advanced to stage four. It is during this stage IV of the disease that treatment is started. This is the stage in which thrombocytopenia ( low platelets ) starts. So you can say that low platelets in CLL is a sign of advanced disease.

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Also known as Chronic Myelocytic Leukemia or CML seems to be more aggressive than Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

CML has three phases:

1. Chronic phase: This is the phase where non-specific symptoms may be present with minor indications of severe disease. Some of these symptoms may be fatigue, a sense of feeling sick, anemia, chills at night etc. These symptoms may last from months to years
2. Accelerated phase: It is in this phase that a low platelet count can occur. Also all symptoms especially anemia tend to get worse.
3. Terminal phase: In this phase the disease tends to advance rapidly spreading to other areas such as bone, brain, lymph nodes etc and is usually fatal.

Both types of Leukemias can be low platelet causes at different stages. Natural herbs, dietary and life-style changes can be of great help in reducing some of the effects that these diseases have on your platelets.

The natural approach is not a substitute of your treatment but an adjunct healthy approach to support your body and immune system and especially to keep your platelets as normal as possible and a preventative way of avoiding the use of strong medications and surgery (splenectomy or taking out of the spleen - this surgical procedure is done more with CML sufferers).

Contaminated Tap Water Can Potentially Lead to Leukemia

While consuming eight glasses of water is still highly recommended, where you get that water from is crucial. Many are inclined to go to the faucet and poor themselves a glass of tap water. Unfortunately, tap water simply is not safe to drink. While there are countless toxins within tap water, many do not realize how many chemicals are in the water and what kind of damage it can potentially cause.

Water contamination is one of America's number one health problem because of the mere fact that 70% of our body is water. We need it co cleanse our system and flush out all of the toxins. By pouring more toxins and chemicals into your body with tap water, you are only doing more damage than good.

According to the New York Times, violations of the Clean Water Act and state anti-pollution statues have risen drastically across the nation in recent years. With these violations has come an increase in the levels of harmful chemicals that have been found in drinking water. Possible illnesses that have been sustained from drinking contaminated water include leukemia, lung cancer, brain cancer, birth defects and respiratory disorders.

Researchers have found that an estimated 10% of Americans have been exposed to water that has contained dangerous chemicals. The scary part is experts are concerned that the level of harmful toxins in public drinking water is only rising. Researchers found an average of 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants in umbilical cord blood samples with 10 babies that were born in 2004.

While there are several toxins that are dangerous that can be linked to tap water, one of the more dangerous ones to look out for is Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether. This is a gasoline additive that gas companies have been using since the 1980s. This has been a known water contaminant in over 1,800 communities in the U.S. and at least 29 states. The EPA released a statement in 2005 linking this to leukemia and lymphoma.

Because of rapid industrialization in the United States over the last century, numerous chemicals and by-products have been released into the environment. As a result, this has contaminated a large amount of drinking water. The EPA is doing what it can to regulate known potential contaminants, but there is still a large amount of pollution that goes on. While leukemia is a scary result that can come from contaminated drinking water, this is just one of the many dangerous effects that can occur. It is vital you stick to clean, fresh water as it can potentially save your life.
